FCC Certified Ship Radio Inspections

Marine radio communication is critical for safety and navigation while out at sea. It’s the primary means of communication with other vessels, shore-based facilities, and emergency services, and it’s essential to ensure that your marine radio equipment is working properly and meets safety standards. That’s why a regular marine radio inspection is so important.

When you work with our team for your inspection, you’ll receive a comprehensive inspection of your marine radios, and upon passing we will issue your FCC form 824, otherwise known as the “Communications Act Safety Radiotelephony Certificate” (CASRC). If appropriate, your FCC form 827 otherwise know as the “Vessel Bridge to Bridge Safety Certificate” (BtoB) will be issued as well. When you pass the inspection, the appropriate certificates will be issued immediately, no waiting for it in the mail. We can inspect all brands of VHF radio, including ICOM, Standard Horizon, Lowrance, Uniden and more.

Prior to your inspection, please ensure that you have all the items on our pre-inspection checklist to speed up the inspection and save you time and money.

Compliance with Regulations

The Coast Guard requires all compulsory vessels to receive a marine radio inspection every 5 years by a FCC licensed inspector. Compulsory vessels must have a FCC/USCG marine radiotelephony safety inspection to get their valid FCC 824 form, which must be posted on the vessel while under way. These regulations are in place to ensure that your radio equipment is working properly and meets safety standards. Failing to comply with these regulations can result in fines and legal penalties.

Safety

The safety of your vessel, crew and passengers is paramount. A marine radio inspection can help ensure that your equipment is in good working order and ready to use in case of an emergency. If your radio equipment fails during an emergency, it could lead to dangerous or life-threatening situations. Don’t find out your radio doesn’t work, during an emergency!

Performance

Marine radio equipment can be affected by environmental factors, such as exposure to saltwater, moisture, and extreme temperatures. A marine radio inspection can identify any issues that could affect the performance of your equipment, such as corrosion or wiring problems, and ensure that it’s functioning at optimal levels.

Peace of Mind

Knowing that your marine radio equipment is in good working order can give you peace of mind while out at sea. You’ll be able to communicate effectively with other vessels and emergency services, and you’ll have confidence in your ability to navigate safely.

Cost Savings

Regular marine radio inspections can help identify any potential issues before they become major problems, potentially saving you money on repairs or replacement equipment in the long run.
